CareLine for Monday, December 7
Important Announcement:
The Walnut Street Shepherds have made the decision to suspend our in-person gatherings for worship and Bible study for Sunday, 12/13 and Sunday, 12/20. All gatherings will be in a virtual setting. As before, links and access will be found on our website (www.wscoc.com) and on our Walnut Street Church of Christ Digital FaceBook page. Communion supplies will be available for pickup Monday – Friday at the Church Office and Saturday from 9 AM to 11 AM. Our shepherds want to stress that this is a temporary decision to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
We extend our sympathy to Lynette Carlucci and family in loss of her stepmom, Peggy Deen, who passed away Saturday. Funeral arrangements will be handled by McDonald Funeral Home.
Prayers have been requested for:
• Preston Thompson, who has returned home from the hospital (please no visitors at this time)
• Avagene Moore, (mother of Steve Moore) who remains hospitalized in Huntsville
• Evelyn Adkins, who is having a difficult time with her diabetes
• Pat Berry, who is home after a brief ER visit
Other Announcements:
The Counseling Center has several openings on Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning at 8 AM. This service is free for members and family. If you wish to have on-line counseling, call 615-975-2395. We keep all clients confidential.
December’s item for the Golden Deeds Ministry is combs or brushes. This item will be added to the backpacks for the homeless in our community. There is a collection bin in the Gathering Room.
During these days, many of our people are relying on technology, some more than usual. If you need tech support with your tablet, smartphone, laptop, or smart-TV, please email us your question at: askwalnutstreet@wscoc.com. We will do our best to respond personally to your question and help offer support in some way.
The office has been made aware of a need of a small dining room table and chairs, pots and pans, towels and a twin mattress.
Reading for today: 1 “Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3 Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, 4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5 But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. 6 “And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom [a]is coming; go out to meet him!’ 7 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. 11 “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ 12 But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ 13 “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour [b]in which the Son of Man is coming.
