CareLine for Tuesday, December 22
Important Announcement:
We have resumed in person worship services at 7 am, 9 am, and 6 pm on Sundays and at 7 pm on Wednesdays. These in person assemblies are for worship in the auditorium. No classes are meeting at this time. As a consideration for others, masks are required unless a medical reason prevents you from doing so. Masks will be available as you enter the building.
We extend our sympathy to Carolyn Qualls and Elaine Beard in the loss of their aunt, Lydia “Dee” Bizzell, who passed away December 16. A visitation will be held Tuesday, December 29 from 2-6 PM at Taylor Funeral Home.
We extend our sympathy to Meagan Grosvenor and family in the loss of her grandmother, Audrey Jackson, who passed away Sunday. A private service was held Monday at Dickson Funeral Home. Memorial donations can be made to CASA of Dickson County.
We extend our sympathy to Elva Gentry in the loss of her husband, Billy Gentry, who passed away Wednesday. A public graveside service will be held Today 1 PM at Memorial Gardens (all are welcome). He was the grandfather of Joseph Wooten and Jonathan Wooten.
We extend our sympathy to Lewis Curd in the loss of his wife, Janice Curd, who passed away Friday. As a result of family members dealing with COVID issues, visitation with the Curd family has been cancelled. Also, the funeral service will be limited to family members only. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Walnut Street Church of Christ.
Prayers have been requested for:
• Harris McCandless, (grandfather of Robbie Kowalczyk and Jennifer Street) who has Covid-19 and has been placed under hospice care
• Kathy Tyler, (cousin of Joy Adkins) who has tested positive for Covid-19
• Robert Moore, (friend of many at Walnut Street) who is in Williamson Medical with Covid-19 and his wife, Diana has also tested positive for Covid-19 and remains home
• Jeanette Mays, who has been hospitalized with Covid-19
Other Announcements:
Our shepherds wish to express their appreciation for the sacrifices many make regularly to financially support the work of the Walnut Street church family. However, with the impact made by Covid-19 this year, our giving has fallen behind the budget requirement. With this in mind, we are all being asked to prayerfully consider our giving during the final days of 2020 with the goal of contributing $100,000 this coming Sunday, December 27. Contributions may be delivered to the church office, given to any shepherd or minister, or given in person during next Sunday’s worship assembly. Thank you to every member for your prayerful consideration in the effort!
Please note that Walnut Street’s Christian Child Care Center and Church Office will be closed on Thursday, December 24 and Friday, December 25.
Due to some major relocation of phone and internet wiring in the church office there may be some outages with our phone system throughout the week. We apologize for this event and the inconvenience that you may experience due to the outage.
If you or someone you know is in need of firewood please call the church office at 615-446-2909.
2020 has been a challenging year! Have you struggled with fear, or know someone who has? What is the biblical basis of integrating fear into our faith? On Tuesdays at 7pm, Steve Moore will be hosting a Zoom class on “Faith, Fear, and Risk.” This will be a participatory study with Bible reading assignments. If interested, e-mail skmoore63@comcast.net and put “I’m in” in the subject line; you will receive a link to the study in the next day or so. The first assignment before class is to read the story of King Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 17-20, with a special emphasis on the events of Chapter 20.
The Counseling Center has several openings on Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning at 8 AM. This service is free for members and family. If you wish to have on-line counseling, call 615-975-2395. We keep all clients confidential.
December’s item for the Golden Deeds Ministry is combs or brushes. This item will be added to the backpacks for the homeless in our community. There is a collection bin in the Gathering Room.
During these days, many of our people are relying on technology, some more than usual. If you need tech support with your tablet, smartphone, laptop, or smart-TV, please email us your question at: askwalnutstreet@wscoc.com. We will do our best to respond personally to your question and help offer support in some way.
